The American Association of University Women promotes equity for women, education and self-development over the life span, and positive societal change.

Falls Church AAUW’s Educational Equity Scholarships are intended to empower young women in our community who are determined to succeed in college. In accordance with AAUW’s focus on education for women and girls, these scholarships support graduating senior girls with limited financial means to attend college and pursue their educational goals. Young people from public high schools in the Falls Church area who have demonstrated scholastic achievement and financial need are selected annually through a competitive process. Academic progress, leadership potential, work ethic, and school and/or community participation are considered. The number and amount of awards are based on the funds available, the number of qualified applicants, and the financial need of applicants. Scholarships are paid to the university and may be applied by the university toward tuition, room and board, books, and other educational expenses.
